The Empire Cafe Kandy

Open from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm, it serves relaxed cafe-style food in a charming, breezy verandah setting, overlooking the Temple of the Tooth. Housed in the colonial Olde Empire Hotel, a UN-conserved building since the 1890s, the cafe boasts a rich history.

The Olde Empire building has previously served as a coffee factory (Kopi Kade), a lively pub, and since the 1970s, a tourist guesthouse and restaurant. The Empire Cafe is a delightful spot to indulge and spend hours watching the world go by in a historical and serene environment.
