Paradise Road Galleries – The Gallery Cafe Colombo, located at 2 Alfred House Road, Colombo 00300, Sri Lanka, opened in 1998 in the former offices of world-renowned Sri Lankan architect, the late Geoffrey Bawa. Bawa personally approved the transformation of his beloved property by Shanth Fernando into a restaurant and art gallery, appreciating Fernando’s design sensibilities. Bawa’s only input was the location of the main pavilion for diners. The Gallery Cafe showcases regularly changing exhibitions of established and emerging local artists, with artworks available for sale.
Open daily from 10 AM to midnight, the cafe attracts visitors for meals, sightseeing, coffee, cake, shopping, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The menu, known for its consistency, remains unchanged to cater to regular patrons’ favorite dishes. Gallery Café Colombo is particularly renowned for its cocktails, desserts, and consistently good food, solidifying its reputation as one of the must-visit restaurants in Colombo for both locals and tourists.
